Visionradio - extending into the Interactive Digital Television market with Netgem

Further to the pioneering work in DAB audio visual content, and the creation of interactive multiplatform services under the TAHI initiative, Visionradio has reached preliminary agreement with Netgem to develop new markets based on the i-Player platform.

"There is tremendous opportunity afforded by the Netgem i-Player's unique abilities.  The i-Player combines freeview digital television entertainment with the ability to connect to the internet over either dial-up or broadband.  It's such an obvious development and it has been well presented in a package that is both affordable and a pleasure to use."

Malcolm Stewart and Simon Hession of Visionradio have been developing web interfaces and applications purposed for interaction over TV.  Applications include:
In addition there is seen to be huge potential within remote learning and healthcare sectors for solutions of this type.

"The fundamental problem is harnessing the wealth of content available on the internet and delivering it in a way which suits the TV experience.  Our interfaces have all been designed for operation via the remote control"

Whilst not all applications used on the PC will naturally translate to the TV, it is envisaged that there are plenty of services that will.

"The question of answering which applications will carry the most benefit into the TV environment is a matter of researching the market.  The link with the Netgem platform brings us closer to delivering on the promise."
