Case Studies.
An illustration of some of our consumer and business installations is given below. As well as indicative of our ability to deliver in this new market, the case studies embody a range of ideas as to how visionradio solutions offer a range of benefits.
Business Case Study 1:
The Station Hotel in Andover was looking to achieve greater benefit from the two large screen displays installed in the bar area.
The solution proposed allowed for both a healthy range of freeview digital channels, and also allowed the proprietors to include their own messages concerning events and specials.
The flash movie below gives an overview of the objectives and deployed solution used in answering the requirement - it lasts just over 1 minute.
Benefits have been on many levels. The first use of the system was for promotion of a live band.
By using video and audio footage, combined with suitable page layouts:
the target audience was well primed for the event
the bar had record takings on the evening
the band were extremely positive to the promotional effort
video footage taken on the night was encoded for future use, and
the bar had a far higher turnout than usual the following Monday for people returning to see the footage.
The impact on the clientele from the appearance that the Station Hotel has its own TV channel is commented on frequently by the client.
Business Case Study 2:
A deployment of several hundred internet capable set-top boxes went to fulfil a distance learning project need. In addition to supply of the hardware, Visionradio was engaged to develop a series of templates, graphics and navigation systems for creation of a TV purposed support site.
The client, a major UK plc, indicated many benefits accrued through this system, including:
the template solution allowed the client to maintain the site using standard html / ftp tools as opposed to the bespoke system required for the cable / satellite variants.
cost savings in deployment terms were in excess of 800%
functionality improvements were so much greater that this solution was deployed even where users already had cable or satellite equipment.
Consumer Case Study 1:
As part of a multi-million pound DTI co-sponsored programme under "TAHI" (
The Application Home Initiative) a multi-user field trial was deployed to investigate certain Utility services aspects. Part of the infrastructure was to deliver internet information to the trialists' television sets.
In order to increase the appeal of the package, a set of entertainment, information and retail services was developed under the easy2 label. Part of the brief was to have a straightforward system for users to return to the parent Utility service.
This was simply but effectively achieved through creation of fully .css driven pages incorporating a button located next to the embedded TV as highlighted above.
The initial service set was developed and researched with the assistance of professionals in ergonomics and user interface design, and refined based on service set, layout and navigational pointers.
Much important and vital knowledge has been harvested through this process in understanding the delivery of interactive internet for television.
More case studies will be posted here over time.
